Spiritual Thirst

There is something about living in a foreign territory that makes one thirst for the divine. Far from home, Filipinos tend to be more conscious of the Spiritual.

Whereas in the Philippines, the presence of Churches in almost every barangay, the celebration of masses several times a day and the observance of the Catholic rites and traditions are sometimes overlooked, such is cherished beyond the Philippine archipelago.

Out of our comfort zones, we cling to our Maker.

Thus, Filipinos are found in churches and Prayer Meetings are organized like the one I attended in Tomball, Texas. Their community was growing, I was told. The group started with three to four couples. Now they have expanded to several families.

For groups with Cebuano roots, almost always, the devotion to the Senyor Sto. Nino has deepened many times over.

This is good. However, not waiting to venture into alien lands to have a personal relationship with our Savior is better. Let’s quench our Thirst in the here and now.
